I am a Mechanical Engineering student on the Battery sub-team. I joined PER because I didn't have the opportunity to participate in engineering clubs in high school and wanted to gain experience working on a real engineering project. Despite having little prior experience, PER has taught me so much about the hands-on aspects of engineering, including CAD, machining, assembly, and more. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with PER, and it has given me valuable skills and projects to discuss with recruiters. Joining PER has been one of the best decisions I’ve made while at Purdue.

I’m a freshman in MET and a member of the Drivetrain sub-team. Joining an SAE team has been a goal of mine since high school, and after becoming part of PER, I’ve realized that while it’s challenging, it’s also one of the most enjoyable parts of my week. Through PER, I’ve reinforced what I’ve learned in class while also gaining valuable professional skills, such as manual and CNC machining, CAM, CAD, and teamwork. These experiences have connected me with new friends and industry professionals while strengthening my goal of becoming an engineer.

I’m an Electrical Engineering student with a passion for learning, problem-solving, and building. I joined PER to go beyond the classroom and apply the concepts I was learning in a real-world engineering project. Through my time at PER, I’ve not only gained hands-on experience but also built meaningful friendships and connections that have helped me grow both as a person and as an engineer. As an Electronics member and later a Harnessing Lead, I’ve learned how to collaborate effectively within a team, ensure different systems work together seamlessly, and expand my knowledge beyond coursework through challenging projects.

I joined Purdue PER to help foster my passion for motorsports and get hands on experience. Through PER, I have been able to develop my skills and translate them into my work with Central Coast Racing in the NASCAR ARCA Menards Series. Joining PER enriched my academic journey, provided me with a strong foundation for my future career in motorsports and created many friendships along the way. 

I'm an engineering student from Texas who is passionate about motorsports. I joined PER because to continue to develop the technical skills that will contribute to my growth as an engineer. Through PER, I have gained hands-on experience in CAD, suspension design, and data analysis, which have strengthened my problem-solving skills and deepened my understanding of motorsports engineering. This experience has prepared me for my upcoming internship in American F4. Collaborating with a team of like-minded individuals has further developed my teamwork and communication skills, making me a more well-rounded engineer.

I am an electrical engineering technology student from Fort Wayne, Indiana. I joined PER because I loved the idea of working on a team and designing something that would eventually come to life. Through my experience in PER, I have gotten to design and manufacture PCBs and wire harnesses, test electrical equipment, and much more. PER has allowed me to immerse myself in subjects long before I learned them in my coursework. The skills I have learned on this team make me a better student and will make me a stronger professional.

I'm a Sophomore in MechE from the Bay area, and I have loved cars for as long as I can remember. By joining PER, I was given the perfect condition for my love for cars to grow and to work hands-on to build racecars every year. Over the last 2 years, I have been able to fine tune my technical skills, specifically with CAD, machining and Simulink modeling, while also learning how to work better in a team and strive to achieve a common goal. With my experience with PER and my classes, I feel like I can work to build a lot of cool tech in the future.

I am a freshman from Pittsburgh in FYE who wants to go into the automotive industry, namely Formula 1. Joining PER has been the best decision I’ve made so far at Purdue! Using NX, Fusion, and many manufacturing machines in a real world, team setting has taught me volumes and will help me both in classes and on applications later. PER has also given me the opportunity to meet many amazing people. I am so glad I joined PER; it has already given me extremely valuable experiences and a great group of people to learn and work with for the next four years!
